Butters: a touching reunion!

We just wanted to share with you a touching story of a Butters, whose owner Yuki had to leave this country to help her family in Japan after the earthquake a couple of years ago. Since she could not take Butters with her, Yuki had to surrender her precious dog to another family. Butters ended up at the shelter two years later when those people could no longer keep him.
Butters was then adopted to Patricia Smalley, who loved the dog immediately.

Eventually, Yuki came back to the US just to get Butters and take him back to Japan with her! When she found out what had happened and talked to us at the shelter, her story moved everyone. We called Patricia to see how things were going. Patricia's kind heart compelled her to bring Butters back and see if he had missed Yuki. To everyone's surprise, this little dog was so excited to be reunited with his original owner! Everyone cried that day.  Yuki was able to get her loving companion back because of Patricia’s kindness and her own determination.

We want to remind you to never lose hope if you have a missing animal.  Call and visit your local animal shelter often. Those of us at the Humane Society of Skagit Valley work very hard to reunite pets with their owners.
